The Wandering Mind

When it's been one of those days except that "one of those days" is really a week long or more.

What do you do when you can't seem to get your mind to focus? I'm wandering in circles and getting nowhere. The house sits as it is. The kids are easy to care for but it's everything else that I can't seem to start.

It always gets worse before someting big. A move. A trip. Many appointments back to back. Busy things.

How do you focus your mind to one thing at a time when there are so many things vying for your attention?

We leave for a cross-country road trip in less than a week that will have us gone till mid-June. Matt was supposed to go with us but surpise...an exercise that he has to be present for came up. When we get back, we'll only have 2.5 months before we move to Japan.

This trip is needed. Family weddings on Matt's side will bookend our trip that has us seeing family on my side. This is perfect timing to allow us to see our families before moving! I'm also looking forward to being able to stop and not have to think about everything once we're on this trip. Although I am aware that I'll have very little time once we're back. That may be a blessing though.

I missed going to Georgia last year due to having Elijah when I would normally go so I'm very excited to be going this year to see everyone. This trip is even better since it allows us to see Matt's side too! What a gift from God to be blessed with so much family time!

We have started purging in preperation for our move. Going through clothes, toys, the garage, and other places in the house. There is so much stuff that we have aquired over the years that just isn't necessary. Who needs this much stuff?

I will say that it feels so good to give away and get rid of stuff. Our kids don't need half the stuff they have and Matt and I have things that haven't been touched in a year or more. That means "goodbye!".

We know we won't be taking everything with us to Japan. The houses there are smaller so we'll be leaving things in storage here for when we move back to the states. When that's how it will happen though, it gets you thinking...do you really need to keep something that you know will go in storage and not be touched for six years? Mostly no. You don't need to keep it.

It's certainly changing our mindset on belongings.

Kids. The children are all doing well! I'm homeschooling along with the boys being in preschool still for two half days a week. Rosie is a smart little cookie who figures out things faster than I'd like. Elijah is taking steps when holding hands, pulls up on everything and can speed crawl like the best of them. Joshua and Jonathan are both still upset about moving and have no qualms in telling you so.

I can't really think of anything else to say at the moment. Focusing on anything is very difficult (I am on meds now which will hopefully help with that).

Some things that I would like to ask for prayers for:

Focus for me.

The ability to get things done.

That the boys will feel better about moving.

Save travels next week.

Blessed time with family.

This post is a bit all over the place but that's where I am right now.
